The Fringe Locals
Friday Feb 24th 9.30pm
THE OLD WINERY RESTAURANT
2228 NIAGARA STONE ROAD, NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE
When we first moved to what we thought would be our “weekend get-away” in NOTL back in 1994 we had no idea how it would change our lives. I started playing with my Toronto musician friends, Eric Mahar and Dave Norris at local haunts like The Angel, The Anchorage, etc and was dubiously dubbed a “fringe local”. While we only perform as the Fringe Locals from time to time now, we’ve had some really great years as an ever expanding and contracting co-operative kind of jam band with lots of great Niagara region and Toronto musicians adding to the musical madness. Over the years we’ve released 4 indie CD’s. It’s always great when we can get back together for a night and revisit some old and new songs.

Terry Edmunds, the “Wildchild” is a blues-rock guitarist from Cape Breton who joined the Mingelwood Band in 1975 at the age of 17. In the 80′s he was in the Dutch Mason Blues Band. Since then he’s toured Canada numerous times and was quite active in the Vancouver music scene from 1986 to 2002. He now resides in Brantford. I had the pleasure of playing with him for the first time last year at the Duck and he blew me away. Can’t wait to hear him this Sat with the NRS!
Also, Ed Kopala will be sitting in for Griz on guitar!
